Ellen is a solicitor at PILC. She represents clients who have been let down by the state on a range of issues including housing, welfare support, detention, and immigration matters. She works with her clients, grassroots organisations and unions to hold the state to account and affect wider change through the law.
Ellen is an accredited specialist in immigration law. Her public law work often focuses on migrants’ rights and she regularly brings judicial review and civil claims against the Home Office.
Prior to joining PILC, Ellen worked at the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants for five years, representing clients in their immigration matters and contributing to the organisation’s strategic litigation and policy work. Ellen completed part of her legal training at the human rights organisation Liberty.
Ellen became involved in campaigning for migrants’ rights as a teenager whilst studying law in her hometown of Glasgow.
